Whales On Stilts

Author: M. T. Anderson
Published: 2005

Read aloud to my daughter. Smashing good fun.

Naked Brunch

Author: Sparkle Hayter
Published: 2003

Humorous urban fantasy involving werewolves. Some werewolves are in a 12-step program, others are sniffing out the evil of the world. The two philosophies clash while avoiding the police, the media, and gun slinging fanatics with silver bullets.

The Neddiad

Author: Daniel Pinkwater
Published: 2007

A young boy moves from Chicago to Hollywood in the late 1940's, receives a magic stone turtle, and has adventures with ghosts, mammoths, shaman, and a troop of new friends.

This was a great book to read aloud to my daughter, not only for the comedy but also for a handful of new and challenging vocabulary words. I found the book in the kids section, but the young at heart (and fans of Mr. Pinkwater are usually that) will enjoy it.

The Graveyard Book

Author: Neil Gaiman
Published: 2008

Yet another very good book from Mr. Gaiman.

Death And The Librarian

Author: Esther Friesner
Published: 2002

Having heard Friesner writes amusing tales, I dug in with expectations that were met and then some. These are stories best read at a leisurely pace.
