Gone, Baby, Gone

Is there a concise way to write 'every other week'? My dictionary defines biweekly as both every two weeks and twice within a week (I always thought the latter).

This is your every-other-week reminder that this Saturday is the deadline for the next contest round. A certain anonymous reader has been kicking butts and taking names of late. If you'd like to be in contention for the next prize, better start turning pages.

I'm posting this reminder a little early as I will be incommunicado the next four days. Thursday and possibly Friday will be spent in jury duty. Friday (if I get-out-of-jail), Saturday, and Sunday will find me at Readercon.

Have a nice weekend, friends.

Biweekly is the accepted term

Biweekly is the accepted term in the US, you could use fortnight, but that usage is mostly UK (and maybe Canada).

Woohoo! Civic duty. You go, Todd. And have fun at Readercon. Once I become the big famous writer, that's one I want to go to.

I agree that it's confusing.

I agree that it's confusing. Depending on context, you could use something like 'every second Tuesday' if it's fitting. To be honest, I'd avoid biweekly if possible unless the context makes it absolutely clear or if there's just nothing else that works.

my 2 cents.

Fortnight

Fortnightly? Each fortnight. Every fortnight.

I think I'll stick to hyphenated every-other-week.

And no trial at jury duty. I would have served, but getting released was convenient for the Readercon schedule.
